Joseph Babigumira presented at the CFAR New Faces Seminar

“Willingness to Pay for Male Circumcision in Uganda”

He has performed studies of the status of health technology assessment in low-income countries, the cost-effectiveness and scale-up of effective health interventions such as rapid diagnostic tests for malaria, the economic and health impacts of unsafe abortion, the cost-effectiveness of increased access to contraception and reproductive health services, and incentives for seeking and receiving services to prevent HIV. Joseph’s current work is in the area of HIV prevention with an active study of incentives for safe medical male circumcision. In the broader area of incentives, he is also studying monetary incentives for combination prevention and preferences for HIV prevention services and fertility regulation using contingent valuation.
